Every time I pass by a Koi pond I have to stop and marvel at their beauty and grace. In addition they are a sturdy fish with an ability to survive even in freezing conditions. They can grow to over two feet in length. Once Koi gain your confidence you can hand feed them. In the Chinese culture they are believed to bring good fung shui, or luck.
Koi are called “nishikigoi” in Japanese. They represent longevity and virility in Japan.
This particular Koi pond can be found at the San Diego Japanese Friendship Garden at Balboa Park. Definitely a place I plan on visiting again, and again, and again.
